The Geography department offers a challenging
program that develops geotechnology, inquiry and communication skills required
by students to investigate, analyze and evaluate geographic trends and issues.
Researching, presenting, public speaking, note-taking, map reading, and a
varied use of technology are all skills honed in the geographer’s toolkit.
Beginning in grade 9, students draw on personal
and everyday experiences as they learn about Canada’s distinct and changing
character, and the natural and human systems and global influences that shape
our vibrant country. In the senior grades, in specific courses such as Physical
Geography, Travel and Tourism, Urban Studies, Canadian and World Issues,
students continue to develop inquiry methods to analyze environmental issues,
problems, and political factors related to urban development and travel and
tourism within a global context.
